The Honey Month by Amal El-Mohtar: Perfect Gift Book
Jeff VanderMeer • September 20th, 2010 @ 11:09 am • Book Reviews
I’ve just posted a short review of Amal El-Mohtar’s lovely The Honey Month on Omnivoracious. It’s just a beautiful little book, and the kind of thing you should not only sample yourself but also keep in mind as gifts for friends, and during the holiday season. The book’s flying a little under the radar, and I think it’s the kind of thing that’ll be a great surprise for the readers in your life.
You can see a composite of some of the art here.

Naturally, I read this after returning from the (used) bookstore. Looks interesting. Might buy this in the near future.

I just read one of Ms El-Mohtar’s poems after seeing her name now. (This Interwhatever sometimes has its uses.) It’s the one called “X” and it’s truly lovely. I can’t wait to see what her collection is like.

This sounds like a wonderful volume to pair with Alexander Theroux’s colour collections — though perhaps not with Gass’ _On Being Blue_.
