Secret Lives–Give Me My Boxing?

Jeff VanderMeer • May 1st, 2009 @ 12:14 pm • Uncategorized

Just a note that I have some Secret Lives left for sale. The details of the offer are here. (All orders received have gone out, btw.) If I sell three more, I can justify ordering the Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton pay-per-view fight this weekend, and I know that would make Charles Tan very, very happy. Er, and I’ll contribute ten percent of what comes in to the Nature Conservancy so I satisfy my selfish and my better halves…

Can this guy stop the Pac-Man? C’mon, underneath the indifference, you know you care…

    LOL.

The number of copies sold determines how long in rounds the match will last…

  2. Jim Hall says:

Jeff I am a big boxing fan. I think Hatton can win by a 8th round KO!

  3. Jeff VanderMeer says:

Hey, Jim! Really? I have been impressed by Pac-man lately and think he will win a close decision. It really all depends on Hatton–has he learned anything, i.e., can he be a more skilled boxer? In short, can he do what Manny has done and show he’s got more than just power and strength. It’ll be interesting!

I got my copy yesterday and it’s gorgeous. I’m so thrilled with it! Thanks, Jeff, especially for the “sekrit copy number.”

I don’t see much of a chance for Hatton to take this. Pac has the edge in every area, faster hands, more pop on his shots, quicker feet and better skills.

I see Hatton getting hit early and often, and his chin won’t be up to the task. Floyd has some pretty soft hands and he put Hatton down. Hatton’s fight before that, he fought a guy known for having little power, but Ricky still got shook up in that one. Pac will be bringing at least as much power his punches as Floyd, and his style is more aggressive, so Ricky likely will be taking that face first dive into the corner post a few rounds earlier this time.

    Jason:

I’m kinda with you. Hatton would really have to raise his skill level. Or at least remain committed to a very disciplined and specific strategy. Still, he has a tough-guy’s chance.

  7. Jim Hall says:

I think everyone is thinking PAC can’t be stopped because of his fight with Oscar D. Oscar was a shot fighter and I think Hatton will be a much bigger test. However I am very impressed with PAC’s trainer Freddy Roach, and the verbal jabs between Roach and Hatton’s trainer Mayweather have been a great lead up to the fight. Lets hope it’s a classic!

  8. Jeff VanderMeer says:

Yeah, Oscar was a bit of a shot fighter. But PAC also fought Marquez to a draw before that, which is damned impressive.

  9. Jim Hall says:

Well I stand corrected. Manny is pound for pound the best right now.

  10. Jason Uresti says:

Glad Ricky is ok, that was one heck of a shot he took.
