If anyone is looking for the sci fi/fantasy specific writing group, you might consider quantummuse.com. FYI:

quantummuse.com, beside being a sci fi/fantasy zine is also an online writer's groups. All stories published on the zine are selected from the writer's group. This allows the author to not only receive critiques of their work, but the potential of seeing it published in a popular online zine. Each submission is guaranteed 5 critiques. To submit stories to the group the member must earn submission credits. 1 submission credit is earned for each 3 critiques. Included is a messaging system that allows members to discuss critiques in more detail. There is also a forum for general discussion.

Coby, I work for Review Fuse and your comment triggered a google alert I have set up for our company's name. Hope it's okay for me to try and answer your question here. I'd hate to be accused of comment spam. :)

Right now it's free to sign up for Review Fuse, so you don't have a whole lot to lose. I will admit that because our service it very new, our community of writers is pretty small; however, we do have some great writers who've been pretty active. Also, since we are still in beta, we're really listing to our users right now. If you try it out and find something is missing for it to be worthwhile to you, let us know and we'll try to add it.

I haven’t been able to find a good online writing group. I have tried and been disappointed by the reviews I got from writing.com. Critique Circle wouldn’t even let me sign up for a new account. Do you know if Review Fuse (http://www.reviewfuse.com) is worth signing up for?

Gio - I have been in writing groups where terrible psychodramas took place, and it's one of the reasons why one should never be afraid to bail on a group, heh. Luckily my current groups are made of wonderful, semi-sane grown-ups.

This is great advice. I admit that I read your criteria for a good group with one eye closed, just in case my group didn't fit it, but happily, it does. I love my group, which arose out of my local NaNoWriMo chapter. They've been invaluable to me, both for feedback and for motivation.

Funny, I just realized today how much I miss the input of other writers. I moved 2,000 miles away from all the writers I know just about a year ago and I my new town is geared more toward screenplays than fiction. My writer-reactor core was approaching critical.

So I went searching for online groups tonight. I've tentatively pitched my lot in with one I found on the SFWA site; we shall see but as you say, experimentation is good.

Thanks for the reminder.

Nice mix, you have.

I participate in two critting circles, both created with fellow writers from the Online Writing Workshop. Living in Paris, I don't know of any writers' group haunting la ville lumière. Haunting in English, I mean.

I have heard of terrible psychodramas taking place in face-to-face groups. Bedtime stories, or true experiences?
