Thus far, this…

…is a bit like reading some kind of updated V-era Pynchon or the best of John Calvin Batchelor, but with Slattery’s own unique perspective and approach. Really great stuff.

    I loved Spaceman Blues, so I’m really looking forward to reading Liberation, especially now that you’ve spoken of it in such glowing terms.

    I’m sending off a request for a review copy of this, as I did enjoy his first novel. I’ll try not to think it’s that great, but hell, I’m excited nonetheless!

    True, it could. And doubtless I’ll find other really enjoyable reads soon afterwards, but it is a book I want to read and so I shall enjoy the moment until it has passed.
