EURO 2008: Germany-Croatia, Austria-Poland

So today’s games in the European Championship pit Germany against Croatia and Austria versus Poland.

Does Croatia have a chance against the mighty German juggernaut? No, because they’ve yet to publish my books, while Germany has. ;)

As for Austria versus Poland, not being familiar with either team I have no idea if this is going to be a good match to watch or not.

You must’ve been published in Polish, surely? While those cheapskate Austrians will just be buying in the German edition. That should decide it… (Plus the fact that Poland generally field a pretty good team, while Austria – well, no. The Austrians don’t really get football; I think this is their first time in the championship, and they’re only there by virtue of being co-hosts. It could be an entertaining game, but is sure to be unbalanced.)

Oh–that’s true. I’ve just been published in Polish. So: go Poland! I’m so selfish…

  3. Jonathan Wood says:

Historically speaking Poland should be the better team.

Interesting… has an unexpected link been discovered between literary tastes and sporting excellence?

  4. Jeff VanderMeer says:

Man, that’s a bit of a b.s. penalty kick given to the Austrians…

A real kick in the teeth for the Poles. They defended like milk bottles but I thought they were going to steal it. Exciting stuff.

But not as exciting as tonight’s gonna be!

Huh, almost every Pole is now fumed. Well, we’ve got many (many, many, many) people in England, so if the ref. goes to his home, you know what will happen… He’d better stay in Austria… Just kiddin’.

“Oh–that’s true. I’ve just been published in Polish. So: go Poland!”

    Thx :)

btw -a few days ago I ordered your book, “City of Saints and Madmen”, and I’m reading now “The Transformation of Martin Lake”. Good story!

    Cheers!
