I-Con Photos

(interior of the green room)
Here’re our I-Con photos, mostly from the dealer’s room. It was an interesting con.
The hotel was 30 minutes from the college the events were held at (Stonybrook, NY), and the green room was partially in a racquetball court, which we didn’t realize at first–we were just saying the background pattern on the walls was cool…and then we realized it was ball scuffs…and then we realized we were in a racquetball court! Amazing how the mind can play tricks. So we came in, did our schtick in panels, workshops, whatever, and then we were going home again. They canceled our outgoing flight but then stuck us in first class on an earlier flight, so that was great.
Had a lovely time hanging out with Liz Gorinsky, Elizabeth Bear, Paolo B, Sheila Williams, Carol Emshwiller, Norman Spinrad, John McCarthy, etc. (I know we met more people, but my mind’s a sieve right now.) Had a great time, too, almost getting lost with Jonathan Wood, who it was wonderful to meet for the first time.
It was the first genre con in the US we’ve gone to in over two years, actually, something we hadn’t realized. Mostly it’s been overseas cons, workshops, book festivals, etc.

I swear I knew where we were going the whole time. The whole time!

Haa! Well, either that or we were preternaturally lucky.

With that road map, how could we have gone wrong?

LOL! I wish I could adequately describe that map to blog readers. I don’t know if it was the context or what, but it made me feel ‘tarded.

Nah – the ‘tardedness of that map happened way before it got into the end-user’s hands.

That map reminded me of the one we had in Brisbane, Australia. I always get intimidated by a city map that is as large as the last Harry Potter book!

Didn’t I meet you in Austin, Texas a couple of years ago?

That was 3 years ago, I think? Maybe I’m misremembering. That was the last one, though.

Hmm… November a year and a bit ago I think. Meh, anyway, not trying to be an argumentative twunt; just thinking out loud!!

Well, it seems like longer!!
