Books Received–April 7

Okay, so I’m cheating a little bit. The two AMAZING books by John Grant I bought in the dealer’s room at I-CON this weekend. I’m almost done with Corrupted Science and all I can say is it’s as if Grant wrote this book for me personally. It is absurdist, hilarious, horrifying, intelligent, and has a depth you wouldn’t expect for a book that deals with so much material. I’m going to do a full review of this book by next week. It just blew me away. I’m going to be ordering copies of it and the companion volume for friends for the holidays, I know. More on these books in an Amazon post.

Those Grant books do sound interesting. I’d be curious to hear about that Paul Kincaid book, too.
And what’s up with Naomi Novik’s new novel? The fifth in the series is the first to come out in hardcover? Dirty pool, if you ask me.

Yeah, I must admit I don’t like it when a series switches format.
Honestly, the Grant books are amazing, and through a PR snafu got almost zero coverage in the US.
The Kincaid I hope to review soon.

Those Grant books look fantastic. I think I’m going to have to order them, possibly as a happy-birthday-to-me gift. There’s time yet to save my pennies.

I’m tempted too by those Grant books and am curious about the Kincaid, since I do enjoy reading literary critiques on occasion. As for the Novik book, I got that book as well this past weekend and while I think this cover looks better than those for her first four, I can see where many would be irritated by the mid-stream shift. I’m beginning to wonder just how many books she’s planning for this series. Seems like it’ll be six or more.
Oh, and in totally unrelated news, got your books today, Jeff. I think the Wiloch will be the first on my list to read, since it’s the least “traditional.”
