Veniss Video Game Classic

You all remember the really old Veniss Underground video game stuff, right? For Atari? The story is, back when I couldn’t get the novel published, so I helped Atari turn it into a video game. It’s a really odd game, I have to say.

Thanks to Andrew Breitenbach for digging up the old image.

Is it true that they made the boss fight with Quin at the end of the last Nicholas level impossible because they ran out of money before they could finish the Shadrach and Nicola levels? (Not that I ever got that far myself; stupid meerkats.)

  2. Jeff VanderMeer says:

Yes, that is true. They put way too much time and money into the “mobbing” scenes–thirty meerkats just grabbing onto you with their teeth, every step of the bleedin way.

I even *got* to that kill screen once, but Twin Cities wouldn’t recognize my score because Billy Mitchell complained that I might have modified my cartridge. Do you know how many Super 8 cans I had to go through to film the whole thing?

    F@#$%&g Billy Mitchell!

I meant Twin Galaxies, not Twin Cities. Leave it to me to bollux up my own joke.
