Create Your Own Bumbershoot!

Here’s my somewhat eccentric take on Bumbershoot, up on the Amazon book blog.

Bumbershoot! Bumbershoot! Bumbershoot!

Jeff

Try to bring a couple of authors in live to give readings. It’s easier than it sounds. They tend to congregate in coffee houses and make little bleating sounds when anyone recognizes them. So just take a net and baseball bat in with you, round up a few, and take them back to your place. Writers always like free food, so they’ll be grateful.

Hilarious, and yet, I wonder: why haven’t I thought of doing this before?
Seriously, that sounds like a blast.

Plus when they get to my house and I introduce them to the steering committee (three cats and a manic rat terrier) they’ll feel especially privileged to have been made a part of my own little Bumbershoot.

As one who was there, well said. Bumbershoot is always a good time, especially when you eschew the headliners and seek out the weirder stuff on offer.

This was my favorite part of your Amazon piece: “eating pirogues and elephant ears.” Watching someone consume an entire canoe with a pachyderm chaser must have been well worth the price of admission. Sorry I missed that.

shit. Did I misspell pirogies? Crap.
